Go from couch to 5K with a Personal Trainer
Each session should take about 30 minutes, three times a week. That just happens to be the same amount of moderate exercise recommended by numerous studies for optimum fitness.
This program will get you fit
There will be one session with the personal trainer and two sessions on your own.
Be sure to space out these three days throughout the week to give your-self a chance to rest and recover between efforts. And don't worry about how fast you're going. Running faster can wait until your bones are stronger and your body is fitter.
Session with the Trainer:
Program meets once a week on Monday nights at 6:45pm. This session last 45 minutes.
1. Warm-up
2. Then outside where you will alternate walking/running small distances building slowly each week until after 8 weeks you are ready to run a 5k (3.1 miles) or 30 minutes non-stop.
3. Into the gym, some weight training to strengthen your ability to run and end with stretching.
4.You will be sent home each week with a plan to follow for the other two days you are responsible for. When you return the following Monday you need to bring in the completed form.
Optional but recommended
At the end of the 8 weeks along with your Trainer you can enter a local 5k run. We will have the details of that run once this program has started.
