The Fruitlands Cup of Cyclocross, consists of many laps of a short course (1.5–2 miles) featuring pavement, wooded trails, grass, steep hills and obstacles that require riders to quickly dismount, carry the bike while navigating the obstruction, and remount. The races usually take between 30 minutes and an hour to complete, depending on ground conditions.
The race on the grounds of Fruitlands Museum is part of the New England Cyclocross BAR (Best All-Around Rider) Series. The series tracks points for 17 categories/classes over 14 events during the 2016 NE cyclocross campaign. The finals take place in Fitchburg, MA, on November 27.
If you want to watch this crazy sport, come to Fruitlands Museum on October 22, starting at 8:30AM.
FREE to spectators!
To visit the museum buildings while here, spectators must pay admissions or use their membership. Cyclocross racers get in free.
