John Nemeth
2-19-2017
It really only happens once in a while - a fresh young talent, whose star power can't be denied, comes along to take the blues by storm. Stevie Ray Vaughan and Robert Cray did it in the '80s. John Nemeth is the next young blues star to do it in the new millennium. John has an amazing voice and has developed into one of the top harp players on the scene. His commanding performances keep all eyes and ears riveted to the stage. This man has the showmanship of Mick Jagger, a voice on par with Buddy Guy, harp skills worthy of Junior Wells and a slew of catchy-as-hell songs. No doubt about it, he's got it all the outstanding voice, the musical prowess, the charismatic showmanship, the sharp-dressed good looks and the catchy original material.
Like the title of his irresistible song (that dares you to not sing along on the chorus), the 31-year-old harp blower sounds "Too Good To Be True." And like a magnet, he pulled in some major talent - none other than famed guitarists Elvin Bishop, Junior Watson and Anson Funderburgh - to assist in the studio for his two critically-acclaimed CDs on the Blind Pig label.
In 2013, Németh was nominated in five categories for a Blues Music Award. These included 'B.B. King Entertainer', 'Contemporary Blues Album', 'Instrumentalist - Harmonica', 'Soul Blues Album', and 'Soul Blues Male Artist'. He relocated to Memphis, Tennessee in early 2013, and he had the Bo-Keys back him on his next recording. In 2014, he won a Blues Music Award in the 'Soul Blues Male Artist of the Year' category. And he was just nominated for the 2016 Blues Music Award "BB King Entertainer of the year.
Drawing on the classic blues, soul, and R&B influences that inform his stunning vocal style, John is a true original who must to be seen to be believed. See him here now before he hits the arenas.
"He's my idea of an up-and-coming blues singer. I don't see a lot of them out there, but I know one when I see him." - Elvin Bishop
“Definitely one of the best club shows that I’ve ever seen. John Németh is simply the Blues artist that I feel is most deserving of more recognition. Check the man and his band out whenever you might get the chance.” Don “T-Bone” Erickson, BluesWax
“I remember telling friends up North in ’80 that they should go see Stevie Ray Vaughan, but they weren’t impressed because he wasn’t famous yet. It will give me great pleasure to say, “I told you so!” about John Németh. You’ll see.” Bob Margolin, Blues Revue Magazine
