Revaluing the Woodshop: Responding to the loss of the Furniture Industry in Chair City
6:30 p.m.
Gardner Museum
28 Pearl Street, Gardner
Join us for a panel discussion as we explore ideas about creating an inter-generational space where former furniture workers can share woodworking skills, helping to re-value the labor of former furniture workers, rebuild social connections that were lost when factories closed, and foster a place where new ideas about building community in the area can be hatched. A follow-up meeting will continue to explore the idea of starting a Maker Space or Wood Gym in Gardner and see if there is a group of people interested in taking concrete steps towards its development. Anyone with ideas, resources, and skills to share is encouraged to attend.
