The Office of Consumer Affairs and Business Regulation is pleased to host a briefing and leadership forum on Combating Elder Financial Abuse. Together with the Executive Office of Elder Affairs, the Middlesex County District Attorney’s Office and the Division of Banks, this collaborative multi-agency effort will bring greater awareness and initiative around this issue.

Why you should attend.
The National Council on Aging estimates that elder financial abuse costs the elder population more than $36.5 billion annually.
Individuals over the age of 60 make up the largest growing segment of the population and many of them are people you know and work with.
Perpetrators of elder financial abuse are often family members, friends, or caregivers who have access to personal information and finances.
Awareness is key to detecting and preventing elder financial abuse.This event will highlight the need for education amongst the financial services sector, law enforcement and elder advocate groups and discuss best practices and efforts being taken to help combat elder financial abuse.
