11:00 AM: Experiences of Vietnam Hear three different perspectives on the Vietnam War: we will show a video interview made with Jim Phillips who did two tours in Vietnam; Vietnam Veteran Jack Saball of Groton will give his impressions of the war; and graduate student Shawn Driscoll will speak about the importance of teaching the Vietnam conflict to current students.
12:30 PM: Today's Army Major General (Retired) Bruce Zukauskas will give an overview of the U.S. Army, discussing the challenges the Army faces today.
2:00 PM: 1918 Influenza Epidemic University of South Carolina History Professor Emeritus Marcia G. Synnott will talk about the epidemic as it affected Camp Devens. Then, Professor Linda Hixon of Worcester State University will detail stories discovered about epidemic victims in the Worcester area.
Friday May 17th 10:30 AM Influenza Memorial Dedication
Join us for a ceremony at the Rogers Field Memorial Park as we unveil a memorial to commemorate the soldiers, doctors, and nurses that died at Camp Devens during the Influenza Pandemic of 1918-1919.
