Mark your calendars for the April meeting to be held on April 3, 2018.
Setti Warren, Democratic candidate for Governor, will join us to speak about his platform. From his service in the Iraq War to his two terms as mayor of Newton, Setti Warren has dedicated his life to public service. Massachusetts is a place where families like his have always found a better future, but people and communities are falling behind. Setti Warren believes we can do better.
Confronting economic inequality is the challenge of our time, and Setti Warren is prepared to lead the way. Despite years of strong economic growth, our state budget is a mess. Fixing it starts with telling the truth: we must raise revenue by eliminating tax breaks for special interests and asking those who make more than a million dollars a year ($20,000 a week!) to pay their fair share.
Setti Warren plans to use this new revenue to fund strategies that will reduce the scourge of economic inequality, like making public colleges free and moving us towards single-payer healthcare.
