Date:February 9, 2018
It’ll soon be five years since celebrity comedian/political satirist JIMMY TINGLE (60 Minutes, Comedy Central, The Tonight Show…) came and conquered Ayer-Shirley Regional High School with his “American Dream” tour. Well, he’s back and with a vengeance. The now Democratic Candidate for Lieutenant Governor, Tingle is bringing his “Humor for Humanity” to ASRHS Auditorium on February 9 at 7:30pm. Tickets are $25 per person; $35 per person for V.I.P. Seating with a post-show meet & greet with Mr. Tingle. For ticket reservations and information, please call (978) 772-2545 or email email@example.com. Information is also available online at www.jacneed.com/ASYD/AyerShirleyDrama.htm.
Ever since Johnny Carson first introduced Jimmy Tingle on the Tonight Show in 1988, long before Jon Stewart, Steven Colbert or Louis CK, he has remained a “stand out in stand up”, specializing in political humor and social commentary. For years, Boston comedy and theater fans have known what Jimmy Tingle does. Now, with “Humor for Humanity,” he hopes to expand his comedic footprint and show audiences a glimpse of why he does it.
“Our mission is to use comedy, commentary and conversation through social media, radio, television and live events to raise spirits, funds and awareness for non-profits, charities and social causes. Our Mission is Their Mission,” explains Tingle. “Through this new social enterprise, we want to use humor for purposes beyond entertainment and help make meaningful change in the world. Humor for Humanity! Humor and Helping, Humor and Healing, Humor and Hope… HaH! HaH! HaH! HaH!”
Tingle’s previous engagement at the school was a fundraiser to benefit the arts in the Region’s schools. Proceeds from this event, presented by the Ayer Shirley Regional School District and sponsored by Acre Bridge Transportation of Southborough, will be dedicated to supporting District Programs.
Said Tingle, “I’m running for Lt Governor of Massachusetts to help shape, articulate, and deliver a message to voters about a Democratic Party which I believe is positive, progressive, and passionate. With ‘Humor for Humanity,” I'm looking to raise spirits (and funds) for great causes like the Ayer/Shirley schools. A little comedy and a little commentary is a great recipe for a fun evening for a great cause… our future!”
