Working with Women and Girls: Experiences of Vicarious Trauma
9:30 - 1:30 p.m.
UMass Dartmouth’s Center for Innovation & Entrepreneurship
151 Martine Street, Fall River
This free half-day conference will consist of research findings just completed by Professor Robin A. Robinson of University of Massachusetts Dartmouth, and Professor Michele Burman and Annie Crowley of the University of Glasgow, Scotland from their Wellcome Trust funded study of those who work with justice-involved women and girls. We know that women and girls in community and carceral settings have experienced trauma of all kinds. Moreover, we know that those who work with them are likely to feel the effects of such trauma in their own lives.
This conference will provide research findings, panel discussions of first-hand experiences with vicarious trauma, and forward-planning policy and practice discussions. Lunch is included in an open setting for networking and planning next steps.
