Student Leaders to Show Service Efforts
During 4th Annual United Way Youth Venture Spring Showcase Event
FITCHBURG – The United Way Youth Venture program of North Central Massachusetts will be celebrating student’s community-service projects at the fourth annual UWYV Spring Showcase at the Great Wolf Lodge in Fitchburg on March 14 from 5 to 7 p.m.
This is a public event, with everyone invited to come see the incredible efforts of over 50 Venture Teams made up of students from across the region as they show off the work that they have done to support the needs of the region’s communities. These projects include providing support to low-income families, helping improve the environment, and raising awareness around mental health issues.
“The UWYV Spring Showcase is easily one of the most positive and inspirational events in our region. It’s difficult to imagine another two-hour period where you can meet so many young leaders who are actively living their dreams to make a difference,” said Lauren Mountain, the director of United Way Youth Venture program of North Central Massachusetts.
The United Way Youth Venture program is a partnership between the United Way of North Central Massachusetts, Mount Wachusett Community College and Ashoka’s Youth Venture. The program exists to empower youth through support for innovative, community outreach proposals and help them gain essential experience that will help them to become the future leaders and innovators of our community. Throughout the past year, more than 9,000 students have been actively engaged in the United Way Youth Venture program, with more than 150 teams working to be the change they wish to see within the community.
This event gives the community an opportunity to speak with students and learn how they took their passions and concerns for the issues their community faces and transformed them into their own unique community-benefiting projects. In addition to meeting these teams, the Spring Showcase offers attendees the chance to network with other community members who are passionate about supporting our local youth.
Tickets for this event are available for a five-dollar donation per person and you can purchase your tickets ahead of time by visiting: https://secure.qgiv.com/for/uwyvss2.
