Savoy Brown featuring Kim Simmonds
12-17-2016
Savoy Brown's latest CD, "The Devil to Pay" is a blast furnace. Driven by classic blues and age-old human truths – but dragged into contemporary relevance by stinging musicianship and modern savvy – Kim Simmonds’ new songs have arrived when we need them most. “In many ways,” considers the legendary guitarist, “this is the best album I’ve ever done. It’s fresh and new, and belongs to the twenty-first century.”
One of the earliest of British blues bands, SAVOY BROWN (with founder guitarist Kim Simmonds at the helm) helped launch the UK blues/rock movement that paved the way for such acts as Led Zeppelin, becoming part of the framework that launched the rock and roll music of the 1970’s. Their influence now stretches into modern rock as we know it today. In 1967 they opened for CREAM's first London gig. In 1969 Kim jammed onstage in London with Jimi Hendrix and Eric Burdon.
Savoy Brown have released 38 albums. Ex-members of Savoy Brown have also been members of other rock & blues acts like Fleetwood Mac, Robert Cray Band, Black Sabbath, Humble Pie, U.F.O., Chicken Shack, Ten Years After & Foghat. Kim was recently inducted into Hollywood's Rock Walk of Fame.
With 5 decades behind them, they are one of the longest, continuously running Blues/Rock bands in the world today.
"Make no mistake about it: Simmonds isn't just up on his game, he gets better and better with age."---Michael Lisi - Gazette Reporter
